Scientists Discover New 'Race' of Humans by Brad
Domus was rendered inhabitable by nuclear fallout resulting from the hostilties that resulted in fighting over the vaccine for the plague. Millions died on the planet and moon during this time, and most experts believed that Lumina had been similarily rendered inhabitable. However, according to Dr. Lan'sis Toke'in [Vf], leader of the research team, some parts of Lumina show milder levels of radiation. This has allowed some of the residents to adapt to the radiation and not suffer the effects of severe radiation posioning. They are a human-like race of people inflicted with a vile, wasting disease. Their hair and skin tends to be pale and overrun with weeping sores. Their eyes are usually red and dry. As a result, bright light hinders their vision . While their diseased condition does not allow them to survive for long (effective lifespan is about 40 years), they have evolved and adapted to their squalid environment.
The occasional Unclean One is born with better resistance to the diseases which ravage the race, these individuals tend to live longer (60-80 years) and tend to be a bit more cunning/intelligent. They usually rise to become leaders or 'messiahs' of their race.
In combat, anyone hit by an Unclean One has a 25% chance of contracting some sort of disease (roll stamina or less to avoid becoming infected. Otherwise, the disease will turn the individual into one of the Unclean in 1-10 weeks. DM note: or use any disease variety that you choose). The occasional Unclean One is born with better resistance to the diseases which ravage the race (10% chance per 100 encountered)--these individuals tend to live longer (60-80 years) and tend to be a bit more cunning/intelligent. |
